Winner to GO WEST for winter sun and fun

Valmiki Nagarajan from Glen Eden, was overwhelmed to hear that he was the grand prize winner of the GO WEST winter sun and fun competition.
Valmiki will be taking his wife Thulasi and his four year old son Vishwas to the Gold Coast, along with his mother Chandra and father Nagarajan. And, all for the price of a single bus ticket and text message.

“We can’t believe it – my family is just so excited!” says Valmiki. “When I sent the text message I never imagined I would win. We have never been to the Gold Coast before either and were actually planning a trip to go there – but now I have won this! It’s just fantastic!”
“My Dad often travels by GO WEST buses and he was the one who told me to enter the competition. We all like taking the bus, it’s very convenient and the drivers are really friendly.”
General Manager of GO WEST, Warren Fowler, says the competition was an innovation designed to encourage people out of their cars and onto the bus.
“Aucklanders are well known for being attached to their cars,” says Mr Fowler. “The competition offered an exciting incentive for people to consider bus travel if they normally take their cars and to encourage those people who already catch the bus to do so more often.”
Over 8000 people entered the competition, which ran throughout the month of July.
In addition to Valmiki, who won the grand prize, 21 lucky people won an iPOD Nano simply by texting the unique code from their GO WEST bus ticket.
