DISRUPTION TO BUS SERVICES

10th, February 2010

On Monday, 15 February some Valley Flyer bus services will be disrupted due to a scheduled meeting of the Central Amalgamated Workers Union (CAWU).

“In recent months, negotiations have been initiated to agree a new employment agreement for members of the Central Amalgamated Workers Union and the Hutt Valley Society of Independent Drivers (HVSID),” says Zane Fulljames, General Manager Operations.  “The current agreement covering members of these unions expired on 31 October.”

The CAWU represents approximately 40 union members across the Valley Flyer business, which includes the Airport Flyer.

“The meeting will be held OFF PEAK meaning the disruption will be kept to a minimum and what customers will see is fewer buses on the roads rather than no buses at all,” says Mr Fulljames.

The following services will be affected between 9.30am and 12.30pm only:

Buses running every 60 minutes instead of every 30 minutes:
Wainuiomata services
R83 Eastbourne to Wellington via Lower Hutt
R150 Western Hills to Petone

Buses running every 30 minutes instead of every 15 minutes:
R120 Stokes Valley to Queensgate
R110 Upper Hutt to Petone

Airport Flyer and school bus services will not be affected.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our customers and trust that with the advance notice provided our customers can make alternative travel arrangements,” says Mr Fulljames.
