Get Loaded at Orientation Week with Go Rider!
19th, February 2010
First Year University of Auckland and AUT students are in for a treat this Orientation Week with 35,000 Go Rider cards being handed out for free.
The Go Rider cards, together with a student ID and MAXX student ID sticker, give full time tertiary students up to 40 per cent off the price of a single adult cash bus fare on all Metrolink, GOWEST, North Star and Waka Pacific buses.
“We know that bus travel is important for students because it’s cheap and affordable,” says Zane Fulljames, General Manager Operations, NZ Bus.
“Go Rider cards normally cost $10. So, by handing out free cards to first year students, we are doing our bit to make it as easy as possible for them to use our services. The 40 per cent discount off the price of a single adult cash fare is, of course, available to all full time students with a student ID and MAXX student ID sticker.”
All students need to do to get the discount is to take their Go Rider card and their student ID to the campus ticket agent and they will be given a MAXX tertiary ID sticker.
Once students have their MAXX tertiary ID sticker they can then load their Go Rider card with a tertiary 10 ride ticket and get the 40 per cent discount off the price of a single adult cash fare.
Go Rider cards are the smart cards that can be used to pay for bus travel on any Metrolink, GO WEST, North Star or Waka Pacific bus.
