Say cheese - you could be a Metrolink Bus Pix competition winner!
June 16, 2009
Auckland city’s leading bus company, Metrolink, is getting snap-happy for Auckland’s Festival of Photography by launching its very own photo competition with some excellent prizes up for grabs.
Until the end of June, Metrolink is encouraging its customers to take photographs that capture the way its local communities travel by bus. Customers are being asked to submit genuine photographs they’ve taken of the bus they ride, the driver, the view from the bus stop or anything that reflects the bus theme, to be in to win.
The winner will receive three months of unlimited bus travel on any Metrolink, LINK, North Star, Waka Pacific or GO WEST bus, worth over $500. They will also have their photo put up on a billboard in central Auckland in July this year.
Metrolink General Manager, Gavin Cook, says the Metrolink Bus Pix competition is a way of getting Aucklanders to be expressive about the way they travel because for many of them, public transport is a big part of their everyday life.
“Every year, passengers take 18 million rides on Metrolink services alone,” says Mr Cook. “We are a huge part of Auckland and it’s for this reason we want to get involved not only in supporting an important event for the city – the Auckland Festival of Photography – but also to do something exciting and challenging for our customers who travel with us regularly.”
