Wishing you and your family a happy holiday season

December 19, 2011

What a year this has been! The Rugby World Cup hosted throughout New Zealand and the mighty All Blacks winning the William Webb Ellis Trophy.

2011 was also a successful year for NZ Bus.

Working in partnership with Auckland Transport and the Greater Wellington Regional Council we carried over 120 000 rugby fans to and from Westpac Stadium and Eden Park, during the Rugby World Cup, in conjunction with Auckland Transport, we launched the new Central Flagship (Link) services in Auckland which now carry over 20 000 passengers a day and created 50 new jobs.

Our new $3.5m state-of-the-art depot in Onehunga opened in October with parking for over 100 buses, a body shop, fully equipped workshop, a gym, drivers room, training room and state-of-the-art offices and meeting facilities.

We have also committed to investing $82m in a bus fleet replacement programme with 198 new ADL buses being delivered over the next 18 months. We are now actively exploring Hybrid/Electrics and Double Decker solutions.

At NZ Bus we recognise that in order for public transport to become the preffered mode of urban transport, it must deliver an environmentally sustainable, reliable and efficient service and a quality fit-for-purpose product.

We have invested heavily in driver recruitment and on-going driver training, maintenance and management systems along with a much closer alignment with our business partners and the communities we serve.

Most importantly on behalf of the management and staff at NZ Bus, we would like to wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday season.
