Zane Fulljames | Chief Executive Officer

Zane was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer in 2011 , where he is responsible for the day to day management of NZ Bus . He is accountable to the Board for the achievement of the strategic goals of NZ Bus .

Zane joined NZ Bus as Chief Operating Officer in 2008 responsible for Operations, Maintenance , Fleet, Industrial Relations and Health and Safety, prior to this he was with Royal Dutch Shell . He has multi-sector experience in senior roles spanning 30 years and started his career with the National Bank of NZ.

Scott Thorne | Chief Commercial Officer

Scott joined NZ Bus in 2006 and was responsible for financial management, business technology, governance and risk management. In November 2011, Scott was appointed to the position of Chief Commercial Officer, where he is now responsible for the delivery of major projects within the business. Prior to joining NZ Bus, Scott spent nine years in the energy industry where he held a number of senior commercial and financial roles within Vector and Natural Gas Corporation. He started his career with PWC in audit and advisory.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University and is a member of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand

Carl Stratton | Chief Financial Officer

Carl Stratton joined NZ Bus in 2007 and was appointed to the role of CFO in November 2011. Prior to joining NZ Bus Carl was a Manager in KPMG Wellington's tax division

Carl holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration and a Bachelor of Science from Victoria University and is a member of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New ZealandCarl holds a [qualification] and is a member of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand.

The Executive Team is supported by a high quality Management Team which combines strong industry experience with diversity brought from other industries:

Claire Neville, GM Operations

Claire was appointed GM Operations in October 2017, having joined NZ Bus in 2011 as a Regional Operations Manager and progressed through various operations management roles before heading up Operations across the organisation. Claire is a chartered civil engineer, and prior to joining NZ Bus worked with professional service firms in Ireland and New Zealand providing transport planning and engineering advice to private and public sector clients. Claire is passionate about working with the NZ Bus team and our partners in delivering quality transport services to our customers.

Ian Gordon, GM Fleet

Ian joined as the GM Fleet in May 2014. Prior to this appointment, Ian was Rail Assets Manager at GWRC. He has held other senior roles across various local and central government agencies including the Ministry of Defence. Ian brings significant strategic capability to the Executive Team and is dedicated to the fleet and maintenance teams’ roadmap.

Kim Payton, National Health and Safety Manager

Prior to joining NZ Bus in 2017 Kim has worked in both public and private sector health and safety roles, and uses that experience to lead, engage and motivate others in the achievement of our organisational health and safety objectives. She is responsible for the management of our Accredited Employer Programme with ACC, and is a trained investigator using the Incident Causation Analysis Methodology (ICAM). Kim is accredited Technician status with the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management (NZISM) and holds the National Examination Board of Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) General Certificate in Health and Safety.

Anthony James, National Commercial Manager

Anthony is a senior transport professional and joined NZ Bus in 2014. He has over 15 years’ experience in public transport planning, strategic business planning, operational delivery and stakeholder management in London, New Zealand and Australia. Anthony offers proven transport and strategic business planning, initiative development, project and contract management, commercial and operational expertise and team leadership skills.

Simon Blunt, GM Finance

Simon is a CPA finance professional who joined NZ Bus as General Manager Finance in Oct 2018. Since returning to New Zealand in 2006, he has continued to provide business advisory, strategic planning and performance management expertise. Simon provided finance leadership across the NZ Post Group’s transformation programme, international and domestic business units. Prior to that, supporting the BP NZ’s Retail, Commercial and Logistics networks.

Gordon Tait, HR Manager Southern

Prior to joining NZ Bus as the HR Manager Southern in 2014 Gordon has held national roles in HR, Payroll and Health and Safety in Corrections, Energy and Telecommunications. Gordon has also been a consultant specialising in learning and development and in mentoring managers. Gordon’s particular strengths are in employment relations, industrial relations, coaching and mentoring.

Semo Asa, National Training Manager

Semo Asa joined NZ Bus in 2008. Passionate about personal and professional development of individuals, groups and organisations, Semo has led the Training and Development team since 2014 as the National Training Manager. Motivated and driven by his own leadership journey and progression in the transport and telecommunication industry, Semo firmly believes that knowledge, values and life experience coupled with hard work, determination and a great attitude are key to moving people and organisations forward.
